I read many reviews about TrainPetDog.com and signed up anyway. After seeing the presentation I was very impressed with the insight presented in training a dog. It was not completely relevant but I appreciate the professionalism put into the content. The information provided in the online service is excellent. Very informative, detailed, and logically progressive. I have had great results training my puppy using the database thus far. In fact , I ordered the book and decided a week later I did not want it because the online version was more than adequate and they refunded my money right away. I agree that when you sigh up they promote much more than I was willing to sign up for but it was not an issue for me. If I were running this business, I would probably do the same.I am deducting one star for that reason alone because it did get very confusing. . Bottom line, the content is very well written, constructed, intuitive to follow and I am getting excellent results with my training.
Just as a child needs a caring parent; an athletic team needs a coach; your puppy needs a leader and a clear social hierarchy. If you do not take up the role of leader, your dog will; and you will end up with an unruly, disobedient dog. Many people try to win their new puppy's love by letting the puppy always have its way. Buckets of affection is a wonderful thing for most puppies, but it must be tempered with respect.
Basic or beginner's obedience is typically a short course ranging from six to ten weeks, where it is demonstrated to the handler how to communicate with and train the dog in a few simple commands. With most methods the dog is trained one command at a time. Though there may or may not be a specific word attached to it, walking properly on a leash, or leash control, is often the first training required prior to learning other commands.
"This is not a situation for a child of Harry Howard, though she kneltin the presence, and before the throne, of her sovereign. Behold, mydear Cecilia, the natural consequences of this rebellion! It scattersdiscord in their ranks; and, by its damnable leveling principles, destroys all distinction of rank among themselves; even these rash boysknow not where obedience is due!"
Our training classes are aimed at giving you information and skills that you can apply to your puppy’s behaviour in any situation. If you have an existing issue that would require help with please contact your local coach and describe the problems you are having. It may be possible for us to help you in a class setting, or it may be that your coach will recommend a 1-1 session with a trainer or behaviourist. We will aim to give you the advice that we believe will be of the greatest benefit to you and your dog. In some cases, the class environment may not be the most suitable for your dog, in which case we will always strive to offer an alternative plan of action!
Luckily I didn't get any of the products that I was offered but subscribed anyways. I only unsubscribed today because I got two creepy emails. The first one was: Is your dog's life worth a $1 to you? This was because I wasn't clicking on any links I was sent and didn't buy any products. But the last one is what really shook me. It said; Hunter, is your dog dying a slow death? I'm glad I found this site and the reviews.
Success is usually attained in small steps. Training sessions with your dog should last 10 to 15 minutes, two to three times per day. This is especially true for puppies because of their very short attention spans. Longer sessions can cause an adult dog to become bored. Start by teaching basic commands. Try to stick with one action per training session so your dog does not get confused.
Like small children, puppies have short attention spans and get tired quickly. Keep your puppy training sessions short – 5 to 10 minutes is enough – but regular. Two or three short training sessions every day is ideal. And, remember, you can build in the ‘come’ command throughout the day; for example, when you want to feed your puppy or play with him.
"Well, then, Griff, I pity you, from my soul. I would rather have had asharp struggle for the happiness that I shall now obtain so easily, thanthat you should be thus cruelly disappointed. But you cannot blame me,my friend, that I avail myself of fortune's favor. Miss Plowden, yourfair hand. Colonel Howard, I return you a thousand thanks for the careyou have taken, hitherto, of this precious charge; and believe me, sir, that I speak frankly, when I say, that, next to myself, I should chooseto entrust her with you in preference to any man on earth."
The Pilot had conducted his surprise with so much skill and secrecyas to have secured every individual about the abbey, whether male orfemale, soldier or civilian; and as it might be dangerous to leave anybehind who could convey intelligence into the country, Griffith hadordered that every human being found in the building should be conductedto the cliffs; to be held in durance at least until the departure ofthe last boat to the cutter, which, he was informed, lay close in tothe land, awaiting their re-embarkation. The hurry of the departure hadcaused many lights to be kindled in the abbey, and the contrast betweenthe glare within and the gloom without attracted the wandering looks ofthe captives, as they issued into the paddock. One of those indefinableand unaccountable feelings which so often cross the human mind inducedCecilia to pause at the great gate of the grounds, and look back at theabbey, with a presentiment that she was to behold it for the lasttime. The dark and ragged outline of the edifice was clearly delineatedagainst the northern sky, while the open windows and neglected doorspermitted a view of the solitude within. Twenty tapers were sheddingtheir useless light in the empty apartments, as if in mockery of thedeserted walls; and Cecilia turned shuddering from the sight, to pressnigher to the person of her indignant uncle, with a secret impressionthat her presence would soon be more necessary than ever to hishappiness.
Dogs Trust Dog School is different from other dog training classes you may have been to. We are passionate about dog behaviour and want to help you teach your puppy or dog to fit happily into your family life. That means doing some basic training of course – he needs to learn to sit when asked, walk with you on a loose lead and come back when you call. But that isn’t all. At Dog School, we also help your dog learn how to behave in everyday situations, such as when you pass other dogs, stop to talk to people in the street, or need him to settle down when you’re busy. Dog School is also about making sure you develop a strong bond with your dog, understand his or her behaviour, and know how to react when things don’t go according to plan. We set up the classes to make you and your dog feel as relaxed and confident as possible, so you can both make the most of all the new information and experiences that you will have with us at Dogs Trust Dog School.
